One of Sierra Leones most prominent and the first Sierra Leonean footballer to score a goal at a british premiere league, Kei Kamara,has announced that he is stepping away from playing for the national team (Leone Stars)
In an interview with BBC Sports ,the Leone stars forward state that his reason for leaving the team is because the Sierra Leone FA is treating its players unfairly and without respect.

In response ,SLFA Vice
president Brima Mazola Kamara denied Kei's claims and said that Kei is only talking for himself and though his decision is untimely "they can
cope without him".
Kei Kamara who has been
with the Leone stars team for 7 years, has been described as one of the
calmest, most dedicated and devoted players in the team, so it was a shock to many when
he issued this statement on his personal profile which read: " As an
athlete representing your country is the biggest achievement you can earn.
"So it is very sad
for me to announce that i will be stepping away from the national team (Leone
Stars)indefinitely.
"Thank you to every
Sierra Leonean that have supported my career. I wish to one day put on te green
white and blue again.
"wishing the boys
all the best in the upcoming games. I love you Mama Salone"

definitely a big blow to the team's development
