Miss Sierra Leone
UK 2015, Yazmin Karim had a meeting at the office of the first lady, Mrs Sia Nyama
Koroma, to prepare and discuss arrangements for this years ‘National Girls camp
2015”
The first ever national girls camp was organised
last year by the first Lady, with
support from UNFPA, the CHINESE EMBASSY, NIGERIAN HIGH COMMISSION, MSWGCA, MEST
and other stakeholders.
For 7 days ,more than 50 girls from across the
country, who had excelled in their various schools and had demonstrated skills
in leadership were part of the camp 2014.
The camp taught
various topics on leadership, healthy lifestyles, SRH education, sports and ICT as
a tool for girls empowerment.
The camp also
provided fun social activities for the girls. Last year there was an outing at
Freetown’s popular no.2 beach followed by a dinner at city favourite
Country Lodge.
Now with the help of Yazmin and others the
search for participants of camp 2015 is on. As one of her goals as Miss Sierra
Leone UK, Yazmin uses her title as a platform to "empower , inspire and
strengthen females, of all ages and walks of life” and commenting on the
opportunity to play a role in this years camp, she is ‘super
excited to be on board this fantastic initiative.”
